Lorna Costantini – Modern Big Stitch Quilting

We are lucky that in modern times we have the option of quilting our quilts by hand, domestic machine, midarm, longarm, and cheque. Before machine quilting was an accepted show-worthy technique, hand quilters were taught to aim for 10-12 stitches per inch. Today, that standard is not the only legitimate way of hand quilting. Welcome Lorna Costantini and Modern Big Stitch.

In part because it is more conspicuous, modern big-stitch quilting brings more colour, texture, and design options than traditional hand- or machine-quilting, alone. Now, if big stitch hand quilting is not in your basket of quilting skills, Lorna’s presentation will introduce you to the joy of this method. She will talk about the basics of big-stitch quilting and how to work it into both traditional and modern quilts. In addition, Lorna will share tools, materials, and hints for success, along with a demonstration of big stitch hand quilting that will get you confidently on your way.
